Today was another quick day with only 20 miles to Glasgow, VA. There was a ton of uphill but i was flying at like 3-3.5mph consistently. It felt good to have my full strength and the burning fire inside me these past 2 days which is what helps me hike really fast all day long. Its days like today i could have done 30 miles no problem. When i got to the road i hitched into Glasgow. It was kinda funny a guy in a nice pickup truck went by without signaling with his blinker he would pull over like most do. He ended up driving past and stopped 150 yds down the road and i just happened to look behind me to see him do this. Then he reversed all the way back to where i was and gave me a ride. He said he picked me up because of my buff and he figured i had to be a fisherman from Florida because you dont see buffs up here. He was going to set up a deer stand but he said he designs rod holders for boats so he is fishing in FL all the time. Here in Glasgow i resupplied and am staying at a free town long distance backpacker camp. It was created as an eagle scout project in 2010 and has a shelter with some bunks, power to charge stuff, a hot shower (it was too cold to take a shower without a towel so i didn't use it), and a porta pody. Thank you to the town of Glasgow for maintaining it. That cold front last night is the first big cold front of the season and its supposed to frost tonight! Brrrr its gonna be tough to get moving in the morning. But it should be another incredibly awesome day to hike tomorrow.
I followed that cold front you're experiencing, as well as felt a bit of it. It has snowed in multiple Midwest cities already. Makes me cold thinking of you exposed like that and without a tent, too. I'm thinking your sleeping bag might be a little ripe smelling by now, lol? Love ya buddy. Ford
