Today was October 12th, 2014. This morning the group of us SOBO'S got shuttled back to Pearisburg and we slackpacked 10 miles to the hostel. The hostel is half a mile off the trail way up in the mountains so its a very secluded spot. It poured rain all last night and this morning again. There has been so much rain i was walking in shin deep water on the trail today in some spots. Thats why the AT is often referred to as the Appalachian River. When i got back i warmed up with a hot shower and sat around for my family to arrive. Thats right i got to see my mother, grandmother, and sister today!!!! This was the first time in months i have seen a familiar face. My sister is joining me for 11-14 days to Hampton, TN. She parked her car there and my mother drove her car up to Woods Hole to drop Summer off. My mother and grandmother also went to visit family in NC so thats why they came all the way up here from Florida. We then went out to eat for lunch and they took me to walmart for resupply and to get some shoes. My last pair fell apart in the past few days i believe because of how wet its been. The padding in the heel just disappeared so my heel got scraped up. I paid 30 bucks for some shoes so we will see how long they last. One of the SOBO thru hikers here at the hostel named Twinkle gave my sister the trail name Minnow so that is Summers new name while with me. We will hike out in the morning.
The real reason we came was to see you and it was so far. It was great we were able to see the NC group also.
